  1.      \ENicePrint\F is a program that prints 
  2. out near-daisy-wheel quality characters on 
  3. graphics printers.  Its greatest beauty is 
  4. that in normal use, you use the printer in 
  5. exactly the same way as before, except that 
  6. near-letter-quality characters are printed 
  7. instead of ordinary dot-matrix characters.  
  8. \ENicePrint\F loads underneath DOS, becoming 
  9. part of the operating system, and prints 
  10. \E\>anything\#\F directed to LPT1: in the high-
  11. quality mode.  Even LLIST from BASIC and 
  12. the PrtSc key print out in high-quality mode 
  13. when \ENicePrint\F is installed.
  14.   
  15.      \ENicePrint\F supports \Eall\F of the ordinary
  16. printer commands, so any program that 
  17. prints out correctly on the printer will 
  18. print out the same way with \ENicePrint\F, 
  19. except that it will print out in high 
  20. quality.  Nothing need be changed to get 
  21. near-daisy-wheel printout from your printer.

  23.      In addition to this, \ENicePrint\F has six 
  24. font styles available: \x2default Roman, \x3Sans 
  25. Serif, \x4Orator, \x5Script, \x6Olde English,\x2 and 
  26. \x7Computer.\x2 \>Any \x3of these \x4fonts \x5may \x6be 
  27. \x7italicized.\x2\# There are also six available 
  28. pitches that each of the six font styles 
  29. may use:
  30. Standard Pica (10-pitch)
  31. \!AStandard Elite (12-pitch)\!@
  32. \!DCondensed (17-pitch)\!@
  33. \!bExpanded Pica (5-pitch)\!@
  34. \!aExpanded Elite (6-pitch)\!@
  35. \!dExpanded Condensed (8-1/2 pitch)

  37. \EFurthermore, the Enhanced mode is supported
  38. for all pitches.\F

  40.      It is also possible to print\xB
  41. BIG letters(double height),\xN 
  42. \S0SUPER-\Tand \S1SUB-\Tscripts with printer controls,
  43. and \-1underlining\-0 with printer controls.

  45.      To use \ENicePrint\F, just boot DOS, put in 
  46. the \ENicePrint\F disk, and type:
  47. A>\ENICE\F
  48. That's all.  Now the printer behaves as if 
  49. the \ENiceFonts\F were its native character set.

  51.      To return to the native mode, type 
  52. Ctrl-Alt-F1.  This still leaves \ENicePrint\F 
  53. loaded, so you may return to \ENicePrint\F 
  54. by typing Ctrl-Alt-F2.  Ctrl-Alt-F10 will 
  55. cause a page eject in any of the modes.

  57.      An additional feature is the Ctrl-Alt-\\,
  58. which causes the program to translate \\ 
  59. into <esc>, and \\\\ into \\, facilitating 
  60. the embedding of printer commands in text.  
  61. Ctrl-Alt-\\ mode works both in 
  62. \ENicePrint\F mode and in native mode when 
  63. \ENicePrint\F is resident.
